Paulina Biggs Sparkuhl was appointed Honorary Consul of the Republic of Chile to the United States, by President Ricardo Lagos, on 19 March, 2002. Her territory extends from its base in Las Vegas to encompass the southwestern United States.

Consul Biggs Sparkuhl led the first Consular Trade Mission from Las Vegas to Chile and Argentina in 2006. She was North American Membership Chairperson of the World Federation of Consuls, before becoming the first woman elected to its Board of Directors in 2009. She also serves as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Consular Chamber of Commerce. Consul Sparkuhl has attended conferences or lead consular delegations on six continents.
A recipient of the Medal of Honor of the World Federation of Consuls, Paulina Biggs Sparkuhl has been officially recognized with several commendations from the Governor of the State of Nevada, the Mayor of Las Vegas and others. In 2007 she hosted the visit of President Michelle Bachelet to Nevada.
